This isn't the route for newcomers, it demands you already know these people, already care what happens to them. Ufotable burns that investment into something darker than either previous adaptation, where animation this precise becomes the language for a girl quietly coming apart. By the end, you understand why this version exists: to show you beauty collapsing into something that can't be fixed by a wish.

Shirou Emiya has built something precious: a quiet life in Fuyuki City surrounded by people he cares about. His underclassman Sakura Matou brings warmth to his otherwise lonely days. Then the Holy Grail War ignites again, shattering everything. Ten years after the last conflict devastated the city, Masters and their summoned Servants clash once more over a vessel said to grant any wish. After witnessing a battle between Servants at school, Shirou summons Saber and is drawn into the fight. When a mysterious shadow starts killing people across the city, he teams up with fellow participant Rin Toosaka to stop it, while his bond with Sakura pulls him toward the hidden secrets of the war and the rival families behind it.
