A girl from Tokyo gets dropped into a fantasy world and meets the one person she shouldn't trust, except she's the only one who can save him from the thing eating him alive from the inside. The romance isn't decoration here; it's the actual plot, the reason either of them survives what comes next. Noriko doesn't get to be a hero by learning magic or finding a sword. She gets to be a hero by choosing to love someone she knows is dangerous, and that choice costs everything.

Noriko's ordinary commute home shatters when she tumbles into a world of magic and monsters utterly foreign to everything she knows. Stranded in a strange forest and attacked by a huge worm-like creature, she is rescued by Izark, a quiet swordsman who cannot understand her speech. Unable to fend for herself, she stays at his side and works to pick up the local tongue so she can be of use to him. What she does not know is that a centuries-old prophecy names her the Awakening, the one who can release a terrible evil called the Sky Demon, and that this darkness is tied to Izark himself. With powerful figures scheming to seize her, the two must rely on each other in a land that is both wondrous and dangerous. The story blends adventure, fantasy and romance.
