You grow up with something magic on an island, then you all leave it behind to become normal adults in Tokyo, and somewhere between unpacking boxes you realize you never actually left that place at all. Fureru's powers don't just wake up, your old selves do, the ones that understood something the versions of you sitting in apartments now have forgotten. By the end you're not watching a creature's story anymore; you're watching three people remember what they cost to become.

Aki, Ryou, and Yuuta grew up together on a small Japanese island, where as children they found Fureru, a little yellow hedgehog with strange powers, in a shrine cave and kept it as a pet. Fureru links the three through something close to telepathy, letting them hear one another's inner voices. At twenty, the friends move into a shared place in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. One works part-time at a bar, one sells real estate, and one studies clothing design at a vocational school, and all three try to keep their odd companion out of sight. When they discover another hidden power in Fureru, old tensions and buried feelings return, and their friendship is pushed somewhere none of them expected. The film is a supernatural drama about growing up alongside the people you have always known.
