Near the end of the 21st century, as humanity spreads into space, two boys and a girl grow up together in a big city on Earth. Years later, both young men love the same woman, Mira. Prokion marries her, and the heartbroken Subaru gives them his blessing. Soon after the wedding, Prokion dies suddenly of a disease from space, and Mira may carry the same infection. Friends from Earth set out into space to save her, with Subaru determined to find the source of the illness and a cure. Tezuka Production handled the story, script and direction of this 1986 horror and science fiction special, made for a 24-hour television broadcast. Tezuka Osamu shapes it as a love story told in an omnibus style, built around his belief that love is what can save people.
