You watch it expecting a generic sports show about kids rebuilding a team. Instead it quietly becomes about why people choose to stay, even when winning is impossible. Every character arc lands because the show trusts you to care about soccer players as people, not as stat lines. The pacing stumbles toward the end, but by then you're already invested in whether these kids can pull off something that shouldn't work.

A boy's soccer team breaks up because it cannot field enough players, leaving him without a side to play for. Everything changes when he meets a woman who plays soccer professionally. After that encounter he sets out to bring his old team back to life. Galaxy Kickoff!! is a sports series about one boy's drive to rebuild the team he lost, and it ran for 39 episodes in 2012.
