The Tachikomas are doing stand-up comedy inside their own existential crisis, and somehow it works. These shorts strip away everything but the robots riffing on philosophy, friendship, and what it means to want things when you're not supposed to have wants, then immediately undercuts itself with a joke about tank treads. The pacing is so tight there's barely time to land one bit before the next one hits. You get genuine pathos wrapped in absurdist humor, the kind that only works because Section 9's world is so heavy that laughter becomes the only sane response. This is comedy for people who've already watched SAC and need to remember that the funniest thing about a thinking machine is that it thinks too much.

Interval collects the Tachikomatic Days shorts, three brief comedy episodes connected to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and centered on the Tachikoma. The shorts first came out as part of a compilation disc made for fans, and they were later released again on a Blu-ray box that gathers every Tachikoma short. Expect light science fiction comedy with a mecha flavor.
