Gintama returns with a run of stories that sits between major arcs, adapted from manga chapters that had not been animated before the show goes back to the Silver Soul Arc. After a stretch of grim battles, the Yorozuya are back to taking odd jobs around Edo. The space hunter Umibouzu comes home and flies into a rage on learning that Kagura has a boyfriend, and he blames Gintoki for doing a poor job as her guardian. Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi face one strange situation after another, with plenty of parody, off-color jokes and friendship between the three. The tone moves between loud comedy and moments with real emotional weight, all across thirteen episodes.
