A loincloth disguise while the world is ending. That's Gintama at full confidence, it knows exactly how much plot you actually wanted, which is none. Episode 2 lands every dirty joke like it's been saving them for years, callbacks hit because they earned them across 300+ episodes, and somewhere between Kondo marrying an alien princess and Gintoki pretending to be a pervert on a bridge, the show reminds you why these characters matter without ever stopping being stupid about it.

With the war on pause and Edo rebuilding, Gintoki returns, though Shinpachi does not yet know he is back. When they meet on a bridge, a clash between the Yorozuya and the Tenshouin Naraku breaks out, and Gintoki grabs a loincloth to hide his face. He makes it into the Yorozuya office, unaware that someone else is already there waiting. Elsewhere, Kondou leaves Earth to wed Princess Bubbles of the Gorilla Amanto in the hope of improving diplomatic ties. On their mothership he realizes he cannot speak their language, yet his muddled attempts to talk end up earning their support. Then someone tied to the princess bursts into the ceremony, putting the wedding in doubt. This two-part special mixes action with comedy.
