The Yorozuya are broken up, Gintoki's running on fumes, and the thing he's been dreading for years is coming back. This isn't the show you've been watching for laughs anymore, it's a funeral for people you've known for seven seasons, and it knows exactly how to make you cry while making you laugh at a fart joke two minutes before. The show spent a decade earning the right to destroy you in the last hour, and it collects every debt.

Two years after the Tendoshuu's invasion of the O-Edo Central Terminal, the Yorozuya have split up, and Gintoki is tracing Earth's ley lines in search of signs of Utsuro's Altana. His old teacher, the immortal Utsuro, is poised to return, and after running into what is left of the Tendoshuu, Gintoki heads back to Edo. The Yorozuya regroup alongside the Shinsengumi and storm the occupied terminal, where Altana gathered in a wrecked ship threatens to explode and put Edo and the whole world at risk. Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi, once students of Shouyou Yoshida, join forces with many allies to face their former sensei one last time. As the third and final film covering the rest of the Silver Soul arc and the close of the whole series, it blends action, comedy, drama and science fiction.
