Five young nobles attend the elite Rozenstolz Academy in Kuchen, a small European country, in 1935, as fear of coming war spreads. Orpherus, Eduard, Camus, Lui, and Naoji belong to the Strahl class, which prepares candidates for advisory posts in the royal palace, and each carries his own past and ambitions. Before they have even graduated, they face corrupt politicians, secret agents, attempted murder, and schemers from inside and outside the school who threaten the country's fragile peace and plot to kill the king. Meanwhile Isaac, an English writer, comes to visit Kuchen. Adapted from a Konami game, the drama and fantasy series follows the youth of these students as they pursue their dreams and ideals.
