This one puts you in the hull. Part 3 is 60-odd minutes of Ooarai getting outmaneuvered and improvising back, and the Continuation High School match is the whole reason the movie exists: Mika strumming her kantele while the BT-42s come flying off ridgelines like the laws of physics filed a complaint. The jungle stage into the night battle is the best-looking terrain the series has ever fielded, tracer arcs and muzzle flash lighting up foliage, and the sound design sells every shell hit with a weight most action anime never bother with. Yes, some CG angles show their seams, and yes, you know Miho is going to find the read that saves them. You are not here for suspense, you are here to watch Anglerfish Team solve a problem at full throttle. It ends and you immediately want Part 4.

The third of six films in Girls und Panzer das Finale picks up the quarterfinals of the Winter Continuous Track Cup. Ooarai Girls Academy and Chi-Ha-Tan Academy have been locked in a jungle battle for twelve hours, and Miho Nishizumi's exhausted crews keep fighting into the morning in search of a decisive strike. Elsewhere, Kuromorimine, now under Erika Itsumi, struggles against Pravda until Erika takes Maho Nishizumi's advice and drops the school's rigid tactics. St. Gloriana meets Anzio, and Saunders faces underdog Continuation and its mysterious sharpshooter Jouko. Only four semifinal places remain, so every team has to give everything it has.
