Five young men come back to Earth in 1999 after a voyage through space and find their home devastated by nuclear war. After a run-in with an alien race called the Galra, they end up on the planet Altea. There they learn that five lion robots lie dormant in different parts of that world. The lions were once a single mighty robot named Golion, which boasted that nothing could beat it and slaughtered creatures called the Deathblack Beastmen. As punishment for that arrogance, a divine being from space split it into five pieces. Now the five youths must bring the lions back together and form Golion again, since it is the one hope left for humanity. The series is a science fiction mecha adventure.
