Duke Fleed reaches Earth as a refugee after Vega's forces devastate his home planet, Fleed, bringing the robot Grendizer with him. Adopted by Dr. Amon, head of the Space Research Center, and renamed Daisuke, he works alongside him to learn what the strange objects appearing in the city's sky are. A sudden attack stirs Daisuke's memory, and the source of the phenomena proves to be Vega, an army from a distant star system bent on conquering Earth. Its forces far outmatch human weapons. With his friends Koji and Hikaru, and later his younger sister Maria Grace, Duke chooses to fight back at the controls of Grendizer. Grendizer U is a mecha action adventure about an exiled prince defending the world that took him in.
