What drives Kouji forward isn't just duty. His grandfather was killed by Doctor Hell, and that loss fuels a personal quest for revenge alongside his role as Japan's protector. Doctor Hell does not act alone, since his loyal henchman Baron Ashura carries out many of his schemes.
