A creature so utterly committed to screwing up good intentions that every attempt to help becomes a disaster in real time. Ganmo doesn't learn from failure because failure is the point. Ganmo is a tubby, bird-like creature with an appetite that knows no bounds and a talent for catastrophic mishaps. Desperate to shed his bad reputation, he sets out to prove his worth by pitching in around the house and lending a hand wherever help is needed. The problem: his efforts nearly always create more trouble than they solve. This 1985 feature-length comedy takes the character into parodies of several Japanese folk tales, among them the story of Princess Kaguya. The film adapts a manga by Hosono Fujihiko that ran in Weekly Shounen Sunday, and it builds its laughs around Ganmo's well-meaning blunders.
