The comfort of Gunma-chan is that it asks nothing but presence. Season two returns to Hiragana Gunma not to resolve anything or build toward a payoff, but to sit with the strange residents one more time, treating their small, marginal lives as if they matter completely. This is healing television that doesn't perform healing, just a creature moving through a place where kindness is the only rule that ever applied.

Gunma-chan, the mascot character of Gunma Prefecture, is back for a second slice-of-life season. The first season introduced Hiragana Gunma, an odd place located somewhere in the world that is nonetheless kind and warm, where Gunma-chan lives among many kinds of strange residents. This 13-episode TV continuation, aired in 2023, brings the mascot back for more.
