A hamster finds his whole world the moment he finds his friends. Every episode is a small adventure that doesn't need to go anywhere because the point is just being together, solving tiny disasters, and knowing someone's got your back. Hamtaro is a small, fluffy hamster who lives with his owner, fifth-grader Hiroko Haruna. When Hiroko's family moves to a new town, Hamtaro discovers that the area is full of other hamsters, each with a personality of their own. He soon befriends them, and together they form a band of explorers called the Ham-Hams. While their owners are out, the Ham-Hams set off on wild outings across the city, from stage plays to magical lands made of candy. Along the way Hamtaro lands in some tight spots and works his way back out, and the group sometimes helps Hiroko and other people out of trouble, though first they have to learn to look after themselves. Meanwhile, the humans deal with dramas of their own. The show mixes comedy, adventure and everyday slice-of-life moments across its long run.
