Left on his own as a child, Zuku now lives as a bandit. After a robbery one night, an odd little girl urges him to go to a nearby beach lined with pines. There he finds a young woman lying unconscious, wrapped in a glittering veil. Drawn by the beautiful cloth, he takes it and tries to run, but she wakes and pleads for its return. She remembers nothing except that the veil matters, and she will not let him go without it. Zuku harshly rejects her, unaware that the meeting will reshape his life. Drawing on a well-known Japanese legend, the movie traces two people whose fates become bound together as they find comfort in each other, showing how compassion can soften a hardened heart. It screened at the Tezuka Osamu World Cinema in Kyoto from 2004 until the theater closed in 2011.
