A drunk salaryman and a runaway high schooler shouldn't work as a premise, but the show commits entirely to the unglamorous reality of two broken people learning to exist in the same space. There's no romance saving either of them, no magical fixing, just the slow, messy work of becoming less afraid of being alone. Yoshida's rejection and Sayu's homelessness are not plot devices; they're the reason these two understand each other in ways nobody else can, and that specificity is what makes watching them rebuild feel earned instead of exploitative.

Yoshida is a 26-year-old salaryman who finally confesses to his boss Airi Gotou, his crush of five years, and is turned down. After drinking at a bar with his friend Hashimoto, he heads home drunk and finds Sayu Ogiwara, a high school runaway, crouched by the road. She asks to stay the night, and he agrees. Sober the next morning, he hears how she came all the way from Hokkaido and cannot bring himself to send her away.
