High schooler Aoi Mashiro, short on money after a breakup, brings two hanging scrolls from her grandfather's attic to an antique shop in Kyoto's Teramachi Sanjou shopping district to have them appraised. There she meets Kiyotaka Yagashira, the owner's grandson and a Kyoto University graduate student known as Holmes for his deductive talent and a play on his surname. Sensing sharp intuition in her, he offers her a part-time job. Soon the pair are solving odd cases for clients and locals around town, pairing his deduction with her intuition in a light antique mystery.
