It hands you a missing-classmate mystery and then quietly turns into a eulogy. Kenichi Akizuki and Misako Watanabe go looking for Ryouko Miyazaki, and the only thing the kidnapper leaves behind is a name signed by Koushin Okazaki, a classmate who is already dead by his own hand because he decided growing up was the one thing he would not do. That is the whole ache of it. A boy who took Peter Pan literally, and two kids who still have to keep aging while carrying his signature around. The detective structure is a delivery system, nothing more, and the moment you clock that, the thing stops being a puzzle and starts being a wound. One episode, no sequel to soften it, and it hits far harder than a single 1992 OVA has any business hitting. You finish it sitting very still.
