Yuu Narukami moves to the rural town of Inaba to live with his uncle for a year while his parents work abroad, only to find the town gripped by a series of unsolved murders that the police cannot crack. At Yasogami High School he befriends Yosuke, Chie and Yukiko, who tell him about the Midnight Channel, a strange broadcast said to appear at midnight on rainy nights. When Yuu tunes in, he sees the next victim on the screen and discovers he can pass into the TV itself. Inside lies a fog-covered world crawling with hostile Shadows, and it seems tied to the killings. Together the friends form the Investigation Team to uncover the truth behind the incidents. The show mixes mystery with supernatural action and adventure.
