A girl with no plan picks up hula dancing in rural Fukushima and stumbles into the only thing that makes sense. The movie doesn't pretend this is about becoming a star. Unsure what to do after graduating high school, Hiwa Natsunagi of Iwaki City, Fukushima, spots a recruitment poster for Spa Resort Hawaiians, where her late sister Mari once worked, and applies on impulse to become a hula dancer. Despite having no experience, she is hired and begins training alongside her classmates Kanna, Ranko, Ohana, and Shion. Their clashing personalities keep them from dancing in step, and their first show goes so badly that they are labeled the most pitiful rookies ever. Discouraged but not defeated, the five learn to share both the highs and the lows, growing closer through every stumble until they are ready to take the stage again. The film blends comedy, drama, music, and sports into a slice-of-life story about friendship and determination.
