Three hobos in a junkyard car, and somehow that's where the comedy lives. Punch's literal rock-hard skull meets slapstick physics. Boom and Touch aren't sidekicks, they're the actual plan. A mad scientist trying to bulldoze their home every episode gives the show permission to be ridiculous without needing to justify it. 1965 anime doesn't owe you plot coherence, it owes you timing, and this delivers it on repeat.
Three hobos call a broken-down car on top of a junkyard home. Punch the bear has a head as hard as rock, and nothing can knock him down. Boom the weasel is a crack shot with a slingshot, while Touch the mouse uses her small size to slip into tiny holes and sneak past the villains unseen. Their home is threatened by Gari-Gari, a mad scientist wolf who wants to build a mansion over the junkyard. To raise the money to buy the land, he keeps inventing gadgets and hatching evil plans, from a machine that turns out fake 10 yen to stealing priceless paintings for a high bidder. He is helped by two henchmen: Black, a gun-toting gangster cat, and Nyu, a simple-minded pig with great strength. If Gari-Gari gets the junkyard, the trio has nowhere to live, so they foil his schemes again and again in this comedy fantasy, based on the manga by Mori Yasuji.
