The OVA strips away everything but what made Joshiraku work in the first place: four women sitting around talking, landing jokes so precisely timed they feel inevitable. The comedy here rivals the series at its peak, sharp enough that you forget you're watching something bundled with a manga volume. It's a reminder that Joshiraku never needed spectacle, just the right words in the right order, delivered by people who understand the rhythm of their own show.

Marii, Kigurumi, Tetora, Gankyou and Kukuru return for a single comedy episode that came packaged with the limited edition of the fifth manga volume. Marii complains that audiences clap before she can get to the end of her joke, and the others fire back that her own timing is no better. The group then heads to Jinbouchou, walking past the buildings of various publishers while trying to find Kodansha's office. Later, Kigu focuses so hard that she ends up stuck with manga-style focus lines, and Marii finds herself surrounded by a soft, romantic backdrop. Fans of the 2012 TV series get more of the same silly slice-of-life banter.
