Kagerou Daze No.9 belongs to a new phase of the Kagerou Project, a multimedia effort that spans manga, music and anime. The spin-off shares a world with the main series but is set three years later and seen through a different perspective. Its anime was planned to premiere at a special screening in January 2020 as a reward for people who finished the MekakuCity Quest, a limited real escape game campaign, but the premiere was postponed indefinitely.
