Anime Like Kameari Park Precinct
This is a one-off action comedy that knows exactly how long it needs to be. Ryotsu stumbling through protecting his district while an actual bomb expert does the real work, and a vigilante with taste is burning down the ugliness of Tokyo, creates a three-way collision that never wastes a frame. The movie treats destruction of eyesore architecture as fundamentally funny and kind at once. It costs ninety minutes and gives you the feeling that someone made this for people who actually live in cities and hate what gets built in them.
SYNOPSIS
A terrorist calling himself Benten is methodically destroying the eyesore buildings of corrupt billionaire Shinatora across Tokyo, and nobody can stop him. When the FBI sends bomb expert Lisa Hoshino and her robot partner Dandy to Japan for a safety lecture tour, they get paired with Ryotsu, an unconventional cop from the Kameari precinct who'd rather be doing anything else. As Benten's next target becomes clear, Lisa and Ryotsu race against the clock to prevent disaster at Shinatora World, a massive new amusement park. What they discover there defies logic: a Cold War relic repurposed into something far more dangerous than anyone anticipated. With the clock ticking and chaos erupting around them, the unlikely trio has to figure out Benten's true motivation before the city becomes collateral damage. Part action spectacle, part buddy comedy, this film balances explosive set pieces with character-driven humor. It's pure popcorn entertainment that doesn't take itself too seriously, even when the stakes keep climbing.
