This one plays like a full season of shoujo compressed into a single sitting, and you can feel the seams. Five high school boys, each dragging around some flaw that tanks their appeal, get drafted by one girl into the Motemen Koshien, and the fun is watching the character designs promise you the standard five archetypes and then quietly refuse to deliver them. The quirks do the heavy lifting where the budget can't. Animation is modest, but the art is genuinely pretty, and the film knows better than to swing for spectacle it can't land. It isn't laugh-out-loud and it isn't a tearjerker, it's a calm, low-stakes hangout with boys learning to be less insufferable. If you collect shoujo and count reverse harem suitors on your fingers, you'll finish it wishing someone had given it twelve episodes instead of ninety minutes.

Five good-looking high school boys, Tokio Furuta, Shigekazu Ashida, Koutarou Tojima, Aki Sahashi and Shun Gotouda, each have personality problems that work against them. They all owe money to Sakiko Horinomiya, a well-known girl at their school who comes from a wealthy family. She gathers them together and has them enter the Motemen Koshien contest so they can pay off their debts with the prize money. As they compete for the title, the boys begin to notice changes in themselves and in the people around them, along with their growing feelings for Sakiko. The film is a romantic drama with a musical element.
