Instead they made an elegy, narrated like a folk lament, that ends with Yone returning wrong, masked, carrying two blades instead of one. If you play the game, you already knew the lore. Watching it drawn like a scroll unrolling is a different wound entirely. Not forgiven, not forgotten, and you will absolutely rewatch it immediately.
