Professor Bond is carrying out research on an island in the Java Sea when his son finds a giant ape named Kong and becomes his friend. The two join forces to keep Kong safe from the villainous Dr. Who, who has sinister plans for the ape. Every episode is split into three parts: a King Kong adventure, then a segment of Tom of T.H.U.M.B., a gag cartoon about a secret agent and his sidekick, and then a second King Kong story. The result is an old-school sci-fi adventure paired with slapstick spy comedy. The show was the first TV cartoon series animated entirely in Japan specifically for American television.
