A girl who maps the unmappable watches her town collapse into literal holes. The movie moves slow, lets you sit in the dust and coal smoke, trusts you to care about two people trying to outrun something they don't understand. This is a film about a place more than a plot, and that place matters enough to break your heart.

Kagari runs a map shop in a coal mining settlement known as the Hakoniwa, a town packed with small-scale miners that shifts and changes like a maze from one day to the next. Her childhood friend Yuya dreams of escaping the Hakoniwa for good. Lately, a string of suspicious sinkhole accidents has begun to intrude on their everyday lives. Together with the town's colorful residents, the two find themselves up against a conspiracy that threatens the whole Hakoniwa, and the town's future comes to rest on the maps Kagari draws. Along the way, Kagari does a little growing up in this fantasy film.
