A girl who can't read music enters a competition against trained musicians because a fairy decided she was worth breaking the rules for. The show knows the real competition isn't about winning, it's about five different boys who each show her a different reason why music matters. Hino Kahoko attends a prestigious school split into two branches: the Normal Branch, whose students wear grey uniforms, and the Music Branch, whose students wear white. The school's music competition usually draws its entrants from the Music Branch, but one day Kahoko meets a fairy named Lili. Because she is the only student able to see him, she ends up as the lone Normal Branch entrant in the contest. The catch: she knows nothing about music. Lili gives her a magical violin that anyone can play as long as they truly believe they can. Now she must face the pressures of the competition, her rival contestants and her peers, while finding love, friendship and rivalry in a new world of classical music.
