A prodigy trapped by his own perfectionism meets a musician who shouldn't work at all, yet somehow does. Chiaki's ice-cold standards crumble against Nodame's chaos, and the show knows the real performance isn't the concert, it's two people learning that music means nothing if you're playing alone. Shinichi Chiaki is a gifted student at Japan's top music university, a standout pianist and violinist who dreams of conducting among Europe's elite. He comes from a distinguished family and is a notorious perfectionist, as harsh on others as he is on himself. His dread of air travel keeps him stuck in Japan. In his fourth year he meets Megumi Noda, who calls herself Nodame: a messy, seemingly aimless girl who turns out to be his neighbor. When he hears her play piano, he is stunned by her music, and to his dismay she falls hard for him. The comedy and romance follow the pair as they learn to put up with each other, grow as musicians and push toward the top of the musical world.
