Fam steals a warship with her bare hands and the show never apologizes for how stupid that commitment is. The animation floats these impossible aerial sequences across a world that feels lived-in and dangerous, but the story collapses under its own ambition before the end, beautiful world-building can't save a narrative that loses the thread. Watch it for the character voice work and the steampunk visuals that actually remember what made the original special, not for a plot that knows where it's going.

On the eve of a historic peace treaty, princesses Millia and Lily of the Turan Kingdom fall into a trap set by Luscinia of the Ades Federation, whose attack sparks open war. Left for dead, the princesses are picked up by the Vespa, a small vanship flown by Fam Fan Fan of the Sky Pirates. As the Federation's huge battleships close in and Turan nears collapse, Fam resolves to steal a ship, while questions linger about Luscinia's motives and the secret of Exile. Set in the Last Exile universe with new characters, the series is an action adventure of aerial battles mixing fantasy and science fiction.
