In 2046, a new reinforced cardboard that absorbs 80% of shocks is developed and quickly changes world trade. It soon becomes the arena for LBX, a hobby in which small model robots battle one another to decide who is strongest. By 2050 the craze has spread worldwide. Yamano Ban loves LBX, but his mother disapproves, so he has never had a robot of his own or played himself. Then a stranger he has never met gives him a case holding a model called AX-00. Before leaving, she tells him that it contains both the hope and the despair of humanity. The result is a sci-fi mecha action comedy built around toy robot battles.
