After human civilization collapses into ruin, the world becomes a free and open place where some people live in groups and others wander alone. Two curious girls, Haru and Tamo, roam the quiet, overgrown remains of what used to be rural Japan and record what they find in a notebook. By chance they come upon an old commuter train that still runs, climb aboard, and ride it through the decaying world one day at a time. This slice-of-life film takes a surprisingly cheerful, childlike view of the end of the world.
