Homura returns to her hometown hoping for a fresh start, but she struggles to fit in at school. When a card game called Wixoss catches her attention as a potential way to connect with classmates, she purchases a starter deck. The moment she opens it, the girl illustrated on one of the cards comes to life, addressing her as a "Selector." What begins as a casual hobby turns into something far more sinister. Homura learns that Selectors compete to reclaim five coins that hold their memories. Win them all back, and you're free from the game. Lose, and you face a grim penalty. Homura still cherishes the memory of her childhood friend Chinatsu Morikawa, whom she lost touch with after moving away. Chinatsu, meanwhile, is working multiple shifts to support her family while keeping up with her studies, and she too becomes a Selector. Both girls must fight to protect what matters to them and win back pieces of themselves.
