Lupin moves like he's already won the heist before it starts; Conan stops him by finding the one thread Lupin missed. Watching them orbit each other, neither quite able to predict the other's next move, is what happens when two different kinds of genius collide on the same case. The movie knows exactly what it is: a perfect reason to watch two masters of their craft refuse to let the other win.
Master thief Lupin III sets his sights on the crown of Vespania's royal family, along with a newly discovered mineral that has stealth properties. The sudden deaths of Queen Sakura and Prince Gill have left the country in disarray and made Princess Mira next in line for the throne. On a trip to Japan, Mira meets Ran, who looks just like her, and the two trade places. Ran ends up whisked off to Vespania, with Conan Edogawa, Zenigata, Kogoro Mouri, Lupin and Fujiko following and Jigen already waiting there. Swapped identities and a greedy scheme pit the world's greatest thief against the world's greatest detective in this action comedy mystery special.
