A cat wants nothing more than some time alone with his girl, but his owner keeps getting in the way, a man in the middle of a far darker crisis: he has killed the woman he loves and now sits waiting for the police to arrive. Told from the cat's point of view, this short film from Tezuka Osamu was made in a rush for Mushi Production's first exhibition, where it screened alongside the first episode of Astro Boy. It recalls Natsume Soseki's I Am a Cat, recasting its feline observer as a witness to a strange and grim human situation, and shows that animation can speak to adults.
