A team of actual nobodies gets one month to prove they're worth keeping alive. The first team will destroy them if they lose, which means Asunaro is playing for the school's mercy. This is pure underdog combustion: no secret talents revealed mid-tournament, no sudden power-ups, just kids who were told they're trash deciding to show up anyway.
Asunaro arrives as a new student at Sakura High School and finds it has three baseball teams, each with its own reputation. The first team ranks among the best in the prefecture. The third team, where he lands, is made up of rejects and players with little skill. When the instructor writes them off and announces the third team will be disbanded in a month, one player begs for the chance to play a single game against the first team. A win would hand them the first team's title and open a path toward Koshien Stadium. With help from Kaido, a former member of the first team, Asunaro and his teammates set out to prove they are more than they appear, taking on rival schools as well as the stronger teams at their own school.
