The Thunderbolt Sector is a graveyard of burnt-out colony cylinders and dead ships, and two pilots keep fighting in it because stopping means admitting what they've already lost. Neither one is wrong. Neither one survives the war intact, and the show knows the difference between victory and survival. Four episodes compress the entire weight of the One Year War into two men who respect each other enough to keep trying to kill each other, and by the end you understand why that respect matters more than who wins.

During the One Year War of Universal Century 0079, the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon fight over the Thunderbolt Sector, a shoal zone in the former colony side Moore, cluttered with wrecked colonies and warships and struck by constant electrical discharges. Federation pilot Io Fleming leads an assault against Zeon ace Daryl Lorenz and his sniper squad, and both sides use the colony remnants as cover while neither gives ground. When Io obtains a prototype Gundam, Daryl must make a sacrifice to gain the power needed to beat him. This four-episode mecha action ONA is adapted from Yasuo Ootagaki's manga.
