A girl who has no business piloting a giant robot becomes humanity's last shot because there is nobody else left. The OVA treats training montages and mecha combat like they matter exactly as much as they do, then pulls the ground out from under both in the final episodes. Time itself becomes a weapon, a consequence, a cost that the show is willing to pay in full.

Humanity faces extinction. As people take their first steps beyond the solar system, they discover huge insectoid aliens that seem bent on wiping out the human race, and the creatures are drawing ever closer to Earth. In response, humanity builds space battleships and giant fighting robots piloted by gifted young people chosen from training schools around the world. In 2023, shortly after the first clashes, Noriko Takaya enters one of those schools. Her father was a famous fleet captain killed early in the war, but her own skill as a pilot is doubtful. There she meets her opposite, the beautiful and talented Kazumi Amano, and the two are unexpectedly made to work together. Noriko has to overcome the trauma of war, the doubts of those around her and her own lack of confidence in a mecha drama that pairs robot combat with personal struggle.
