Haru Irei sees the life-size RX-78-2 Gundam in Odaiba and is inspired to start building Gunpla, the plastic Gundam model kits. He buys a one-of-a-kind kit, the GPB-X80 Beginning Gundam, and once it is built he takes it into Gunpla Battle, a virtual world where players pilot their own customized Gunpla in team matches or one-on-one fights. His school friend Rina Noyama, a cheerful fellow fan, and his more experienced senpai Kenta Sakazaki, who gives him building advice, stand by him. To become a Gunpla Battle Champion and earn the rank of Gunpla Meister, Haru has to lean on his friends' support. The three-episode Action and Mecha special was released to mark thirty years of Bandai's Gunpla models.
