A kid raises two orphaned bear cubs in the Sierra Nevada wilderness, and the entire show is built on the weight of that single accident that made him responsible for them. The comedy comes from the bears' chaos and Lan's impossible attempts to keep them fed and hidden. The drama never lets you forget that these are wild animals he's trying to raise as family, and one day they won't fit in his life anymore.

Lan, a Native American boy, lives with his father at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. One day he comes across two young bears, a brother he names Jacky and a sister he calls Jill, and the three become fast friends through their play. Their happy days are cut short when Lan's father accidentally shoots and kills the cubs' mother. Moved by pity for the orphaned pair, Lan resolves to bring Jacky and Jill home to live with him. Adapted from the stories of Ernest Thompson Seton, this 26-episode TV series from 1977 mixes adventure, comedy and drama.
