It gets you rooting for the guy who never wins, and then it does it again for twenty-five episodes straight. Fifteen years after the 2005 series and the anime-original Prank King showdown of Zekkouchou!, Zorori is still chasing the same title he has never earned, still dragging Ishishi and Noshishi along, still building elaborate contraptions that collapse in the last thirty seconds. That is the joke and the whole heart of it: Yutaka Hara's books were never about a villain succeeding, they were about a self-declared genius whose schemes keep accidentally helping the people he was trying to fleece. The boar twins believe in him completely, which is somehow the saddest and funniest thing in the show. Kids read these books, grow up, and come back to find Zorori exactly where they left him, plan in hand, dignity optional.

Motto! Majime ni Fumajime Kaiketsu Zorori is a 2020 adventure, comedy and fantasy anime from Ajiado.
