TMNT fans from the 90s recognize this immediately: it's exactly the kind of bonkers premise that existed just to sell toys, and it owns that completely. The transformation sequences are pure Saturday morning energy, all four turtles combining into one final form because subtlety was never the point. The narrative falls apart between episodes, the animation quality was already dated in 1996, but that's the whole appeal for people who grew up with this era of TMNT, it's aggressively, unapologetically itself.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles receive Mutastones from Crys-Mu, the spirit of light, which let them power up into Super Turtles for three minutes at a time. Meanwhile, Shredder and his henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady come across the Dark Mutastone, and it turns them into Devil Shredder, Supermutant Bebop and Supermutant Rocksteady. The Turtles still have one last card to play: the four of them can fuse into a single ultimate form called Turtle Saint. The two-episode OVA mixes sci-fi adventure with comedy.
