Humanity's war against the BETA, alien invaders overrunning the planet, grinds on in this second season of the mecha drama. Aided by Professor Yuuko Kouzuki's technology and Kasumi Yashiro's psychic powers, Cadet Takeru Shirogane crosses back to his original world, hoping that world's Yuuko will help him finish the Alternative IV project, humanity's final chance against the invaders. As the project nears its end, Takeru and his fellow cadets graduate from the Yokohama pilot academy. A BETA ambush during a trial of a new operating system for the Tactical Surface Fighters, the giant combat machines humanity fights with, leaves Takeru barely alive and scarred by a close friend's brutal death. Yuuko believes people in parallel worlds are bound to share the same fate, so Takeru must overcome his trauma to protect the people he cares about.
