Natsume stumbles into a snow-woman who's forgotten what she's searching for, and he just quietly decides to help her look anyway. That's the entire premise, and it works because the show understands that sometimes the point isn't solving the mystery, it's walking alongside someone who's lost. The OVA doesn't reinvent the series; it just proves again that Natsume at his gentlest, standing in the snow with a forgotten youkai, is exactly where this story belongs.

Natsume heads out for a walk to enjoy the season's first snowfall and meets a snow-woman youkai. She is hunting for something she has lost, but she cannot recall what it is, only that it is warm and sparkly. Anything she touches turns to ice, and with so little to go on, Natsume decides to help her look anyway. The OVA is a single-episode supernatural slice-of-life drama set in the quiet of early winter, pairing a gentle human with a puzzling spirit.
