In the desert grasslands of northern Novoland lives a nomadic people who prize martial skill, worship heroes, and keep faith in the god Pandeng. Their kingdom is Qingyang, where the men run hot-blooded and the women are strong-willed. The story unfolds there, tracing the struggles for power among the northern tribes and the grievances between Qingyang and the East Land. Lü Guichen is Qingyang's crown prince, but as a child he is sent by the Great Lord to live with the Yanzhen Tribe. When that tribe rebels, he is brought back to the city of Beidu. There his older brothers place little value on him, a young and weak crown prince, and focus only on competing with one another to inherit the throne. What follows is a tale of tribal conflict and a fight over succession, told as action fantasy with a dramatic streak.
