Musashi is old, tired, and fighting demons in a world that's already moved on without him. The action is sharp enough to make you forget the CGI stumbles, but it's the weight of a man past his prime swinging a cursed gauntlet that actually lands. Miyamoto Musashi, modeled on the film actor Toshiro Mifune, is no longer young when the Edo period begins. He sets out carrying the legendary Oni Gauntlet, a demonic weapon that devours souls, to defeat the Genma. Alongside a brotherhood of samurai, he confronts a bloodthirsty zombie uprising while crossing a land stricken by poverty. The action series with supernatural elements adapts CAPCOM's Sengoku period game, with Takashi Miike as chief director and Shinya Sugai directing at studio Sublimation.
